Mindfulness is a practiced cognitive skill of focused attention, including various meditation techniques taught as a large component of the modality. Meta-awareness of the present and one’s own thoughts and feelings can bring focus, clarity, and insight. Breathing and other mind-body awareness techniques are taught to facilitate an increased sense of control of higher cognitive processes over primal flight/fight/freeze/fawn responses, increased insight, choices, and control of parasympathetic responses over sympathetic reactions to stimulus.
Whilst ‘stress’ cannot be eliminated, nor when managed properly, would you want to, it is a reality and somewhat necessary to life, the magic is in using stress as a source of energy, insight, and inspiration and this requires the ability to manage the sensation of ‘stress’ to benefit and usefulness… we can show you many ways to do this.
